Ibn Taymiyyah ...
What can my enemies possibly do to me ???
My paradise is in my heart ...
Wherever I go it goes with me ...
Inseparable from me ...
For me
Prison is a place of (religious) retreat ...
Execution is my opportunity for martyrdom ...
And exile from my town is but a chance to travel ...
RUMI ...
This being human is a guest-house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of it's furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Praise Allah and send blessings on the Prophet (SAW) before and after du'a ...
Do you think Allah will accept the blessings before and after and deprive you of what you asked for in between ???
Do you think Allah will accept the blessings before and after and deprive you of what you asked for in between ???

Jafar bin Muhammad bin Ali al-Sadiq ...
If you are intelligent, then you should be of firm resolution and sincere intention before you set out for any place, for surely theself's nature is to overstep the bounds and encroach on the forbidden ...
You should reflect when you walk, and take note of the wonders of Allah (SWT)'swork wherever you go ...
Do not be mocking, or strut when you walk ... Allah (SWT) said:
Do not go about in the land exulting overmuch (31:18)
Lower your gaze from whatever is inappropriate to faith, and remember Allah (SWT) frequenty ...
There is a tradition which says that those places where, and in connection with which, Allah (SWT) is mentioned will testify to that before Allah (SWT) on the Day of Judgement and will ask forgiveness for those people so that Allah (SWT) will let them enter the Garden ...
Do not speak excessively with people along the way, for that is badmanners ...
Most of the roads are the traps and markets of Satan ...
So do not feel safe from his tricks ...
Make your coming and your going in obedience to Allah (SWT) ...
Striving for His pleasure, for all your movements will be recorded in your book, as Allah (SWT) said:
On the day when their tongues and their hands and their feet shall
bear witness against them regarding what they did (24:24)
And
We have made every man's actions to cling to his neck (17:13)
Eloquent Words ...
- Anger is a destroyer for the heart of a sage ... And he who does not have his anger under his control does not have his wisdom under his control, either ...
- Be the friend of he who may grace you ... Not of one whom you are better than ...
(i.e Make friends with ones who are higher than you, so that you progress)
- Piety is that Allah does not miss you in the place where He has commanded you to be ... And does not see (find) you where He has forbidden you from ...
- The believer should live between two fears ... The past sin that he does not know what Allah will do about it ... And the remaining days that he does not know what misfortunes he will encounter during them ... Thus, the believer begins his day fearfully and ends his day fearfully ... Except fear, nothing mends the believer ...
- The world is the believer's jail ... Patience is his fortress ... And Paradise is his abode ... The world is the disbeliever's paradise ... Grave is his jail ... And Hell is his abode ...
- Someone who possesses knowledge on a subject, but conceals it when he is asked, will be bridled with reins of fire ... (Therefore, if a person possesses information that would help a bewildered person and improve his situation, but he remains silent, he has surely committed a great sin)
- At the (appointed) time of every prayer, I hear a caller who calls and says:
"O children of Adam !!! Keep up prayers in order to extinguish the fire you have lit against yourselves (by committing sin)"
- Whoever has not made any improvements in one day has lost ...
- Say each of your prayers as if it were your last prayer ...
- He who travels in the search of knowledge ... To him God shows the way of Paradise ...
- Keep yourselves far from envy ... Because it eats up and takes away good actions ... Like the fire that eats up and burns wood ...
- Deal gently with a people ... And be not harsh ... Cheer them and condemn not ...
- As for those who practice without guidance, they are like him who walks without choosing a definite path ... The more he walks, the remoter he becomes ...
Whenever Imam Ali (ra) faced an enemy
He invoked Allah in the following words
O Lord
Our hearts seek Your Protection ...
Our faces turn to You ...
Our eyes look towards You ...
Our feet move towards Your path ...
And our bodies sincerely submit to Your command ...
Our hearts seek Your Protection ...
Our faces turn to You ...
Our eyes look towards You ...
Our feet move towards Your path ...
And our bodies sincerely submit to Your command ...
O Lord
Hidden hostilities
And concealed spite
Are exposed hearts are boiling over with envy and malice ...
O Lord
We place before You our difficulties ...
The absence of the Holy Prophet (SAW) from amongst us ...
The abundance of enemies
The disappointments and frustrations which face us ...
O Lord
Let truth prevail
And let our people realize justice, honesty and piety of our case ...
Let truth prevail
And let our people realize justice, honesty and piety of our case ...
Imam Ali (ra) ...
This world and the next have submitted to Him their reins ...
And the skies and earths have flung their keys towards Him ...
The thriving trees bow to Him in the morning and evening ...
And produce for Him flaming fire from their branches ...
And at His command, turn their own feed into ripe fruits ...
The Book of Allah is among you ...
It speaks and its tongue does not falter ...
It is a house whose pillars do not fall down ...
And a power whose supporters are never routed ...
Allah deputised the Prophet after a gap from the previous prophets
When there was much talk (among the people) ...
With him, Allah exhausted the series of prophets and ended the revelation ...
He then fought for Him those who were turning away from Him and were equating others with Him ...
Certainly this world is the end of the sight of the (mentally) blind who see nothing beyond it ...
The sight of a looker (who looks with the eye of his mind) pierces through and realises that the (real) house is beyond this world ...
The looker therefore wants to get out of it ...
While the blind wants to get into it ...
The looker collects provision from it (for the next world) ...
While the blind collects provision for this very world ...
You should know that a man gets satiated and wearied with everything except life ... Because he does not find for himself any pleasure in death ...
It is in the position of life for a dead heart
Sight for the blind eye
Hearing for the deaf ear
Quenching for the thirsty
And it contains complete sufficiency and safety ...
The Book of Allah is that through which you see
You speak
And you hear ...
Its one part speaks for the other part ...
And one part testifies to the other ...
It does not create differences about Allah ...
Nor does it mislead its own follower from (the path of) Allah ...
You are joined together in hatred of each other and in the growing of herbage on your filth (i.e., for covering inner dirt by good appearance outside) ...
You are sincere with one another in your love of desires ...
And bear enmity against each other in earning wealth ...
The evil spirit (Satan) has perplexed you ...
And deceit has misled you ...
I seek the help of Allah for myself and you ...
The great spiritual leaders have always said that humility is the surest sign of true understanding ...
What is meant by humility or meekness ???
Are we not talking about humility when speaking of a sense of wonder ???
Can any man who stands in wonder of anything be other than humble !!!
The truly humble man recognises his own uniqueness ...
But he also recognises that he has a way to go ...
Through his sense of wonder
He is aware that there are still newer vistas of knowledge ...
Still greater heights to climb ...
The meekness, too, is not being meek to the things of the earth ...
Not grovelling before the idols of the world ...
On the contrary ...
The meek man is meek in his wonderment of the glorious knowledge
That must be behind outer appearances ...
He is full of wonder ...
Knowing that much truth remains invisible to his sensory system ...
Humility and meekness both enable us to wonder ...
To ponder ...
To be in awe ...
Perhaps our first step towards wisdom ...
Towards God-consciousness ...
Is getting rid of our know-it-allness ...
And adopting an attitude of true humility ...
We should begin to stand in awe ...
To wonder at the infinite
Good
Orderliness
And unity that exist in the universe ...
We shall never take the first step
If we close our minds and hearts to the visible in the invisible, says a thinker ...
Humbly we must look with eyes that see ...
And ears that hear ...
Rather than with the superior attitude of "I know all that" ...
It is a sign of self-destroying egotism never to be impressed ...
Never to be moved to wonder by anything or anyone ...
It is a sign of wisdom to question ...
To wonder ...
We learn only through the process of wondering ...
He is foolish who believes that he must always act in a sophisticated manner...
As if he is in possession of all knowledge ...
The wise man recognises that he knows not ...
God gave us three essential abilities to develop the total consciousness:
To reason ...
To know that we know ...
And to know that we know not ...
The man who hopes to raise his consciousness
Should develop his reasoning power
And ability to sort and analyse what he knows
And should know that he still has much to learn ...
The humble man knows this and comes into a higher consciousness ...
Why do we lose our sense of wonder and humility ???
Because of the fear of appearing naive ...
If one has real faith in God-force
One should express all the more clearly one's sense of wonder ...
If we approach anything in life with contempt due to familiarity
And assumption of know-it-allness
We are kept in ignorance ...
We have to be humble to be creative ...
Or to rise to a higher level of consciousness ...
The person who is contemptuous
Dwells in the lowest level of his consciousness ...
And he suffers much ...
As all men suffer who leave their humility buried
In the mud of ignorance in which they are wallowing ...
In what manner do we begin to reactivate this child-like
But very mature and wise sense of wonder ???
The strength to sustain a sense of wonder with humility against the great pull of habit does not come easily ...
It has to be willed by conscious action over and over again ...
It takes very real effort and patience ...
But it is most rewarding and it will spark our creativity ...
And new horizons will be opened to us ...
A great new awareness and a higher consciousness ...
Pride and egoism are big hurdles in the way of progress and advancement in life ...
The complacency created by pride results in the stagnation and backwardness of the proud ... In the same way, the lack of self- satisfaction and possession of higher aims in life lead to continuous progress and edification'Ali, the Commander of the Faithful, May Peace Be Upon Him, makes this point in two of his aphorisms:
Pride and vanity are obstacles in the way of man's progress and growth ...
One who is dissatisfied with his performance is prompted thereby to improve his work ...
He also says:
One who is proud of his fair state and characteristics will fail to improve himself ...
William John Reilly, the famous scholar, writes:
I have found that certain troublesome and harmful ideas and beliefs in my mind, which cause me mental pain and sorrow more than any other beliefs, are those which relate to myself ... Now how did I discover this fact ??? Well, let me tell you something about my own opinion about my voice, for most people like their own voices ... The only thing whose possession caused me satisfaction was having an exquisite voice ...
I have made many public speeches and had even won a gold medal at the age of eighteen years ... I imagined that I had a melodious, refined and pleasant voice ...
One day I took a tape of one of my speeches on a topic made for the radio and listened to it carefully as any other listener ... This was the first time that I was listening to my voice as any other listener ... God, suddenly I was shocked ... My voice was much poorer than what I had imagined it to be ... It was like a moan, suppressed, inarticulate, colourless, flat and painful to the ears ... What was worse, while I listened to it there were several other people in the room ... I was upset ... I explained to those present that I was not feeling quite well when I had made this speech, that I had no experience of the radio and sound recording when my voice was being recorded ...
But while their attention was turned elsewhere I played other tapes of my raucous voice and the same kind of sounds that wounded one's nerves arose from them ... Finally after listening to all the tapes of my speeches I had to admit that the belief that I had held for several years about my voice was wrong ... For the first time I had to set aside my vanity and try hard to improve and refine my voice ... It seemed a hopeless job at first, but whenever I remembered what Demosthenes had done I would cheer up ... I am still working on it ...
This experience with my voice taught me one thing, that it was possible to launch a prolonged struggle for my self-improvement ... Until I could bear the humiliation of having to accept this defect of mine I did not begin to make any progress in improving myself ...
A shattered pride and conceit make man realistic and lead to improvement and advancement ... This reform and progress take place only when we attend to facts and set aside our vain ideas and beliefs about ourselves ... Otherwise we remain in ignorance and darkness and keep our own cherished self from reform and progress ...
Due to the aberrations in his outlook, the vain person at times imagines himself to possess certain merits that are in fact absent in him ... Imam Sadiq, (May Peace Be Upon Him, said:
One who is proud of himself and his conduct is such due to deviance from the right path of guidance, and, contrary to reality, he claims to possess merits which he lacks ...
The proud and egocentric person is like a silkworm wound up in the cocoon of his own fancies ... He is so intoxicated with the liquor of egoism that he considers the whole world to revolve around himself ...
Adapted From Writings By Khalid Baig ...
We need to appreciate the difference between adab or manners ...
On the one hand and akhlaq or morals on the other ...
While adab deal with ones external disposition ...
Akhlaq as defined by Islam deal with our inner thoughts, feeling and attitudes ...
In a healthy personality, the manners and morals are in harmony ...
But it is also possible to have the former without having the latter ...
The first concerns itself with how a person deals with others ...
The second is concerned with what a person thinks of himself ...
Two persons showing humbleness in their dealings with others, may have exactly opposite ideas in their minds ...
One may do it out of his or her generosity ...
The other may do it because he genuinely thinks that he is not better than the other person ...
The first person only has a shell of humbleness
Which will crumble when tested ...
It is the second person who is really free of arrogance ...
Real greatness belongs only to Allah, our Lord, Creator and Master ...
Human beings are just a creation of Allah ...
And a very small creation in comparison to the unimaginably vast universe ...
Anyone who understands this will realize that our proper status is only that of servants of Allah ...
In fact for a Muslim the real human model is none other than Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who is the greatest of all human beings ...
His greatness lies in being the humblest of all servants of Allah ...
It is impossible for any person who has this consciousness to entertain any notions of his own greatness ...
Islams teaching is that one should never consider oneself greater than other people ... Because that Judgment will come from Allah, and Allah alone ...
On the Day of Judgment ...
None of us knows what our end will be ...
Whether we will end up being a winner or loser over there ...
The person who appears to be nobody here
May end up with eternal bliss because of his goodness that only Allah knew ...
The person who is a big shot here
May end up among the sinners who will be punished there ...
Because of his evil that only Allah knew ...
How foolish, it is then to congratulate ourselves over our fleeting "superiority" ...
What if a person does have edge over another person in measurable worldly terms ??? How then can he not consider himself superior than the other person in that respect ???
The point is sometimes made in half jest ...
It is difficult to be humble when you are so great ...
Islam does not ask us to reject reality and imagine we dont have what we really do ...
Rather it asks us to take a deeper look at the reality
And not be misled by a superficial perception of it ...
And the simple reality that escapes many is that our
Health
Wealth
Talents
And power
Are not of our own creation ...
God gave those to us as a test ...
And He can take them back whenever He wills ...
Those who are conscious of this reality
Their blessings will produce gratitude in them ...
Those who are blind to it will develop pride and arrogance ...

Hana Ali (Daughter Of Muhammad Ali) ...
If memory serves me correctly
I was wearing a little white tank top and a short black skirt ...
I had been raised orthodox Muslim
So I never before worn such revealing clothing while in my fathers presence ...
When we finally arrived
The chauffeur escorted me and my younger sis, Laila
To my father's suite ...
As usual he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us ...
We exchanged as many hugs and kisses as possible in one day ...
My father took a good look at us ...
Then, he sat me down on his lap and said something I will never forget ...
He loooked me straight in the eyes and said:
"Hana, everything God made valuble in this world is covered and hard to get to ...
Where do you find diamonds ???
Deep down in the ground, covered and protected ...
Where do you find pearls ???
Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered and protected in a beautiful shell ...
Where do you find gold ???
Way down in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock ...
You've got to work hard to get to them"
He looked at me with serious eyes ...
"Your body is sacred ...
You're far more precious than diamonds and pearls ...
And you should be covered too"

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ...
If someone relies entirely on his own subjective judgment ...
He will go astray ...

Believers are on a path of continual improvement ...
People do make mistakes ...
But believers analyze their mistakes and take positive actions to correct them ...
This examination is critical for creating purity in every action ...
In this way
Believers develop a lifestyle which is firmly grounded in the principles of faith
And as loved by Allah (SWT) and His Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) ...
All the sons of Adam are sinners ...
But the best of sinners are those who repent ...
Dua:
O Allah
Let us become better Muslims by repenting for our sins ...
Major and minor
Intentionally or unintentionally
Openly or secretly
And accept our repentance
And save us from repeating our sins
Ameen
Shaykh Ahmad Zarruq ...
The claim of the claimer is known by its result ...
If the claim manifests itself then it is correct ...
Otherwise, the one who alleges his claim is a liar ...
Tawbah not followed by godfearingness (Taqwa) is considered unaccepted ...
Taqwa not free of doing wrong actions (Istiqama) is admixed and imperfect ...
Istiqama without scrupulousness (Wara') is incomplete ...
Wara' that is not a result of Zuhd is limited ...
Zuhd that is not built upon trust in Allah (Tawakkul) is dry and dead ...
Tawakkul whose fruits do not manifest by completely cutting off everything that does not lead to Allah and referring to Him, is a picture without truth in it (It is a form without reality) ...
So, sound Tawbah manifests through the servant turning away from the forbidden (Haram) ...
Perfection in Taqwa manifests through the servant finding no observer except Allah ...
Istiqamah exists through the servant taking precautions to perform his religious exercises (Wird) without innovation (bid'a) ...
And Wara' exists when the servant, at the point of experiencing strong desires for something that may be unacceptable, leaves it ...
Du'aa ...
I beg Forgiveness of Allah
My Lord
From all the sins which I have committed ...
Consciously and unconsciously ...
Hidden and evident ...
I repent and ask forgiveness for all my sins ...
Of which I am aware or not aware ...
O Allah ...
You are the Knower of all things unknown ...
And the Veiler of disgrace ...
The Forgiver of sins ...
There is no power or strength besides Allah ...
The Exalted ...
The Supreme ...
Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (as) ...
Repentance is the rope of Allah
And the mainstay of His concern for His servants
Who must always show repentance, in every state ...
Each group of bondsmen has its own form of repentance:
The repentance of the prophets is for the disquiet caused to their innermost being
By any outward source of vexation ...
While the repentance of the awliya' (Friends of Allah)
Arises from the subtle change of hue in their thoughts ...
The repentance of the pure lies in their calm abandonment of whatever oppresses them
The repentance of the elite is for being occupied with anything other than Allah ...
And the repentance of the common people is for wrong actions ...
Each of them recognizes and is aware of the cause of his repentance ...
And his intention therein ...
But it would take too long to explain all of these here ...
As for the repentance of the common man ...
He washes his inward being with the water of regret ...
In constant recognition of his wrong action ...
Having regret for what he has done ...
And fear for what remains of his life ...
He does not think that his wrong actions are insignificant ...
For that would lead him to laziness ...
His continued weeping and regret for what he has missed
Is in itself an act of worship ...
He should restrain himself from his worldly appetites
And seek Allah's help in showing repentance
And to protect him from returning to what he did before ...
He trains himself in the arena of ignorance and worship ...
He makes up for obligations missed ...
He answers others' calls for help
Withdraws from bad company
Spends his night awake
Thirsts during the day
Constantly reflecting on his end and seeking help from Allah
Asking Him to make him steady in his states of ease and difficulty
And constant in his trials and afflictions
So that he will not fall from the ranks of the repentant ...
This will purify him of his wrong actions
Increase his knowledge
And elevate his rank
As Allah has said:
Thus Allah will certainly know those who are truthful ...
And Allah will certainly know the liars (29:3)
On the authority of Anas, who said:
I heard the messenger of Allah say:
Allah the Almighty has said:
O son of Adam
So long as you call upon Me and ask of Me
I shall forgive you for what you have done
And I shall not mind
O son of Adam
Were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky
And were you then to ask forgiveness of Me
I would forgive you
O son of Adam
Were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth
And were you then to face Me
Ascribing no partner to Me
I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as its
Rabia Basri ...
I am fully qualified to work as a doorkeeper
And for this reason ...
What is inside me
I don't let out ...
What is outside me
I don't let in ...
If someone comes in
He goes right out again ...
He has nothing to do with me at all ...
I am a Doorkeeper of the Heart
Not a lump of wet clay ...

A soul without love cannot be elevated
To the horizon of human perfection ...
Even if such a person lived hundreds of years
He or she could make no advances
On the path of perfection ...
Those who are deprived of love
Entangled in the nets of selfishness
Are unable to love anybody else ...
And die unaware of the love deeply implanted
In the very being of existence ...
O You alone who are worshipped
We cannot attain to true knowledge of You
Yet we believe that You are nearer to us
Than our jugular veins
We feel Your existence
And nearness
In the depths of our hearts
Through the universe
Which You created and opened to us
Like a book
And through the wonderful harmony of form
Between all parts of Your creation
We come to perceive that we are integrated into the whole realm
Of Your theophanies
And thus our souls are rested
And consoled
And our hearts find serenity

Oppression ...
UN horrified as Somali family butchered in Eastern Cape
Zine George Published: Oct 05, 2008 (Article from the Times)
Sahra Omar Farah fled from violence in Somalia with her three children — one of them deaf — to South Africa in search of a better life. But just 15 days after settling in a village in the Eastern Cape, named after struggle hero Oliver Tambo, she and her family were butchered like animals. The crime was so brutal, so shocking, that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees sent a team this week to the village to conduct an investigation.Farah, 46, was stabbed 113 times. Her children Mohamed Isse Osman, 19, Ibrahim Isse Osman, 14, and their sister Asha Isse Osman, 12 were stabbed and battered to death. Their bodies were found last Friday by horrified villagers who arrived to buy bread at the bloodied spaza shop where they were living.Farah’s brother, Abdikani Abdi Karil, saw police cars, an ambulance and a pool of blood seeping under a door when he was summoned to the shop.
'My sister lay there naked, as if she was trapped while running to the door,' he said. 'My eldest nephew, Mohamed Isse Osman, was underneath her. She held him as if she was protecting him from the attackers.'She was naked, and her left eye had been removed. There were stab wounds on her head and all over the body. I could not count. All I could think of was my deaf nephew, Ibrahim, and 12-year-old niece. I ran around the shop to look for them,' said Abdi Karil. He found Ibrahim slumped behind packets of sugar.'When I looked around, there was Aisha’s body behind the counter, also naked. I can’t sleep. I have not slept for the past five days,' said Abdi Karil.'I’m trying to make peace with what happened, but how can I do that when innocent and helpless people like my sister were killed so mercilessly?'Police have arrested three men in connection with the murders. Masithini Dyasi, 19, Melikhaya Ncaphayi, 26 and Mandla Thomas, 22, appeared at the Queenstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Police spokesman Superintendent Gcinikhaya Taleni said the case had been postponed until Tuesday.
The UNHCR’s representative, Abel Mbilinyi, said the incident was receiving urgent attention.'The attack was brutal. It stands out in the crowd. It is senseless. We don’t even know why they were killed,' said Mbilinyi. Abdi Karil was dealt another devastating blow this week. As he packed his belongings to leave Queenstown for Mogadishu to arrange his sister’s funeral, he received a phone call from Somalia. The family home there had been gutted.
You know, normally I send some hadith s and I promise I will send some related to this article later insha Allah, but just so its not too much to read at once I just want to bring your attention to some of the oppression happening to Muslims around the world..... We cry about the oppression of Islam and the Muslims everywhere, but what about the oppression of Islam in our own homes, our own lives, our own families, our own hearts?
Our Rasoul (S.A.W) was sent to this world in a time of oppression and injustice, chaos and corruption, evil and madness ect, and with the help of Allah the glorified and exalted, he (S.A.W) brought change spreading Islam (peace) throughout the lands. The Nur (light) of truth destroying all the darkness of lies and mis-guidance.I'm saying this cause it is similar to the world we live in today, this world is crying for Islam, crying for the followers of Rasoul Allah(S.A.W)
To stand up for the sake of Allah and be 100% Muslims 100% of the time. Be brothers, and sisters to each other, love each other without trying to find faults in one another, we can do it for the sake of Allah. I know its easier said than done, but there can be no destination if we don’t start taking steps now.
